Eat Fit Menu Introduced by Ochsner's Elmwood Fitness Center
NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Saints are teaming with Ochsner's Elmwood Fitness Center and Centerplate to give fans the opportunity to feast on a wide-variety of healthy selections while catching the action this season at the Louisiana Superdome. Turkey dogs on whole wheat buns, grilled Portobello mushrooms, chicken kebobs, and pan-seared tuna, are all part of the new Ochsner Eat Fit available at the season opener this Sunday, September 7, in all suites, club levels and general concession stands.
"By opting to try these new menu items, kicking off the 2008 football season won't mean kick-starting your waistline," says Molly Kimball, Elmwood Sports and Lifestyle Nutritionist. "Ochsner Eat Fit menu items are healthier, gourmet alternatives to the standard hotdogs, nachos and burgers."
For those looking to splurge, Rita Benson LeBlanc, Owner/Executive Vice President of the New Orleans Saints, reassures fans that, "the traditional, favorite game-day foods will still be available, but alternatives such as blackened turkey sandwiches on whole wheat and grilled vegetables are a healthy addition to our menus to make game-day indulgence guilt free."
The Louisiana Superdome is one of the first stadiums in the U.S. to team up with a medical center and nutritionists to create healthier menu items and offer nutrition facts for football fans. A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that Louisiana is one of the least healthy states with the highest levels of obesity in adults and children.
"Enjoying great food is part of the New Orleans culture, so Ochsner Eat Fit is bringing great flavor in a healthier entrée to football fans. We want the Louisiana Superdome to be a winning experience for both the Saints and our community's health," says Warner Thomas, COO and President of Ochsner Health System.
