Warner Thomas Receives "Up and Comer" Award for Outstanding Leadership
NEW ORLEANS, LA Ochsner Health System announced today that its Chief Operating Officer and President, Warner Thomas, has been recognized by Modern Healthcare Magazines September 18 issue as an Up and Comer in the healthcare industry for his outstanding leadership and direction during Hurricane Katrina. This year marks Modern Healthcare's 20th annual awards issue recognizing a dozen rising young management stars in healthcare. Warners leadership throughout the Katrina crisis helped guide the Ochsner Health System through many difficult weeks and months; his direction stabilized the organization, which aided the entire city in recovery, and has positioned Ochsner future success, says Dr. Patrick Quinlan, CEO of Ochsner Health System. Thomas oversees Ochsners clinic and hospital operations, including the Medical Center on Jefferson Highway, Elmwood Medical Center, Home Health, Elmwood Fitness Center, Ochsner/St. Anne General Hospital in Raceland, LA, and all health center satellite locations in Southeast Louisiana. Thomas also oversees finance and treasury as well as Ochsners growing regional hospital system that includes a partnership with Summit Hospital in Baton Rouge. Thomas joined Ochsner in 1999 and previously served as Chief Administrative Officer, and reports to CEO, Dr. Patrick Quinlan. Recent accomplishments and ongoing projects under Thomas leadership include a $100 million master facility plan, which includes additions to Medical Center on Jefferson Highway and Ochsners North Shore health centers, and the pending purchase of three New Orleans hospitals to expand the Ochsner system. Thomas has increased the organizations focus on the patient experience by constructing an additional parking garage and a new concourse entrance for easier patient access. He has also initiated the implementation of a campus-wide electronic medical records system that is unique to the Gulf Coast region.
