Ochsner OB/GYN’s to Provide Women’s Services

BATON ROUGE, LA – Ochsner Health System announced today that it is establishing its first location in Iberville Parish.  Ochsner Health Center – Plaquemine will be located at 24730 Plaza Drive (formerly Westside Center for Women) in Plaquemine.  Ochsner’s seven OB/GYN’s and eight certified nurse midwives will begin providing women’s services at the location in the first quarter of 2013.

“Ochsner Health Center – Plaquemine is just the beginning of our commitment to Iberville Parish residents,” says Eric McMillen, Ochsner Baton Rouge Chief Executive Officer.  “With plans underway for the proposed medical complex in the area, this new location provides us the opportunity to begin serving residents now.”

Ochsner is working with the Iberville Parish government to construct a 40,000 square foot free-standing  emergency department in the area in 2014.    The ED will be part of a medical complex that will include an Ochsner Health Center which will provide primary care and specialty services.  Once the medical complex is operational the Plaza Drive health center location will relocate to that site.

The Ochsner OB/GYN team provides a range of women’s services from pregnancy and childbirth to routine exams.  Ochsner was also the first in the Baton Rouge region to perform gynecological surgeries using the da Vinci robotic system.

Ochsner OB/GYN’s include:
Erin Dauterive, MD
Ralph Dauterive, MD
Michael Durel, MD
Evelyn Griffin, MD
Trang Huynh, MD

In addition, Ochsner Nurse Practitioner Molly McRae is available for women’s health and obstetrics and primary care issues.

Ochsner’s women’s services team provides a variety of childbirth options including alternative options such as water births, birthing chairs, balls and stools as well as traditional births and cesarean sections as needed.
