NEW ORLEANS –   Megan McSweeney, a pharmacy resident at Ochsner, won the Best Clinical Poster prize at the recent Louisiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists convention in New Orleans. The award carried a cash prize of $100.

“There were 13 participants in the poster competition,” McSweeney said. “By winning the best clinical poster I proved to myself that hard work and dedication paid off—literally!”

The title of her poster was Prevalence of New Onset Diabetes After Transplant in Kidney Recipients Who Received Alemtuzumab Induction Versus Long-Term Steroids. Coinvestigators on the study were Stephanie Anders, Kerry Fine, Cody Allison, and Ari Cohen, MD.

McSweeney began her 1-year residency at Ochsner in June 2010. She holds a doctorate of pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana. Once she completes her residency at the end of this month, she will begin work in the Coumadin Clinic.
