Palettes and Palates,” a fundraising event focused on art and wine on Friday June 5, 2009, will benefit the renovation and expansion of the Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ochsner Medical Center, 1514 Jefferson Highway.  The event will be held at a private residence on 120 Audubon Blvd and is chaired by Dr. Harley and Susan Ginsberg.

The Ochsner NICU cares for the sickest babies who may need surgery, including those who weigh less than 1,000 grams (2.2 pounds).

Patron Party Co-Chairs, Pamela Steeg and Lori Savoie, invite you to join them at an exclusive patron hour from 7:00-8:00pm with champagne and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Ritz Carlton Executive Chef Matt Murphy and father of Quads born at Ochsner. General ticket holders will join at 8:00pm for a wine tasting, delicacies and a wine and art silent auction.

Auction items range from vintage wines donated by Commander’s Palace, Galatoire’s and Clancy’s to oil paintings and limited-edition signed prints, including George Rodrigue’s famous “Blue Dog.”  The live auction will feature items such as a one week stay at a beautiful vacation retreat in Rosemary Beach, Florida courtesy of Doug and Cheryl Moodie, a beautiful strand of Baroque Style Golden South Sea Pearls courtesy of Wellington & Company Fine Jewelry, two VIP seats to a taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in Burbank, CA, and passes to a private parade viewing stand on St. Charles Avenue during Mardi Gras weekend 2010.

“We’re planning an expansion from 36 to 42 beds and renovating the unit and this very special event will benefit our tiniest patients and their families, so, we hope people will come support us and have a great time,” says Dr. Harley Ginsberg, Medical Director of the Ochsner NICU.

Tickets are available from Ochsner Special Events by calling: 504-842-7113.  Patron tickets are $125 and general admission tickets to the wine tasting and auction are $50.
