NEW ORLEANS – Melanoma is now the fastest growing cancer in the United States. In 1940, your chance of getting melanoma was 1 in 1500. It is now predicted that by 2010, it will be 1 in 50. Yet, if melanoma is caught in the earliest stages, it is entirely treatable with a survival rate of nearly 100 percent. To educate patients about melanoma, how to recognize it and its treatment options, Ochsner Health System is hosting a Hello Health seminar on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 12:00pm at Ralph’s on the Park, located at 900 City Park Avenue in New Orleans. Dr. Adam Riker, Surgical Oncologist and Medical Director of Cancer Services at Ochsner Medical Center will be the guest speaker. The cost is $15 and lunch is included. Reservations are required. To register, call 1-866-OCHSNER (1-866-624-7637) between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
