NEW ORLEANS – If your doctor has diagnosed you as having a thyroid nodule or an enlargement of the thyroid known as goiter, it is important to learn more about the diagnosis and treatment process, and their relationship to cancer. Thyroid nodules appear as swelling or a lump, which can be a solid or liquid filled cyst or mass, and are very common. While more than 90 percent of these nodules are benign, a small percentage can be cancerous, so all nodules should be evaluated by a physician as soon as they are noticed. To educate patients about these thyroid problems and their treatment options, Ochsner Health System is hosting a Hello Health seminar on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 12:00pm at the Chateau Country Club in Kenner. Dr. Paul Spring, ENT at Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner, will be the guest speaker. The cost is $15 and lunch is included. Reservations are required. To register, call 1-866-OCHSNER (1-866-624-7637) between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
