Support Groups

Three cancer support groups are held monthly for patients in all stages of their cancer treatment, as well as for their families and friends: breast cancer, prostate cancer, and general cancer diagnoses. Attendance at all groups is free of charge, and participants receive complimentary parking and refreshments.

Breast Cancer Support Group

The Breast Cancer Support Group is open to all patients with breast cancer and their support persons and families. During the first hour, a guest speaker makes a presentation on a topic such as diagnostic mammograms, relaxation techniques, or the controversy surrounding hormone therapy after breast cancer. Next, we try to add variety and/or humor to the programs with a fashion show, a demonstration of upper arm exercises, or other topics chosen by the group. The second hour is a group discussion, often triggered by the speaker’s theme, which can include the influence of cancer on relationships, family life, and personal goals.
