Dr. Dawn Puente discusses Cold and flu preparation. The main different between a cold and the flu is the virus that causes them. A cold is generally milder, while the flu can be more severe. Germs are spread through coughs and sneezes, so it is important to remember to cover your coughs and sneezes to help prevent the spread. The cold and flu season starts in the fall. Generally the flu vaccine becomes available in September or October. Tips for avoid a cold or the flu include washing your handing, exercising regularly and practicing a healthy lifestyle.
