The evaluation and treatment of these patients requires close interaction among all the pediatric sub-specialties, including pediatric intensive care, infectious disease, cardiology and others. The psychological, financial and social impact of pediatric cancer makes it indispensable to have a comprehensive multidisciplinary team to help the patients and their families. This team is available at Ochsner Medical Center. Our squad of specialists includes pediatric hematologist-oncologists, surgeons, neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists. Nurses and social workers proficient in the care of these youngsters are also integral parts of the team.
