Diabetes : Patient Resources

Diabetes Institute

The Ochsner Diabetes Institute opened in the mid 1980s. In 1992, we were recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a provider of quality programs that meet national standards of diabetes management and encompass all aspects of diabetes care. All of our staff endocrinologists are board certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism.

In 1999, our staff achieved ADA Recognition with Distinction. Provider Recognition is the element that sets our program apart - ours is one of only two programs in Louisiana wherein multiple physicians have achieved this recognition. Our diabetes programs focus on both inpatient and outpatient education and management to promote self-management skills and healthier lifestyles. Our educators also include registered nurses and registered dietitians who are certified diabetes educators.
