Flight Care : Patient Resources

Ochsner Flight Care Team transports neonates born approximately greater than 30 weeks gestation and all trauma and medical patients from birth through adulthood. These patients routinely require admission to one of Ochsner Medical Centers many Specialty Care Units, such as Cardiac Cath Lab, Emergency Department, High-Risk Obstetrics, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the many Adult ICU care areas.

Many of the critically ill/injured patients transported require advanced RN skill level interventions and monitoring, including intubation and ventilation, sedation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, Intra-Arterial Balloon Pump, Ventricular Assist Devices, internal and external pacing, and intricate I.V. medication management.

The Flight Care team is also equipped to transport neonatal and pediatric patients requiring Nitric therapy throughout transport. We also transport the pediatric patient population at the physicians request to the appropriate inpatient areas and Emergency Department.
