Ochsner is in the process of building an international reputation for its state-of-the-art treatment of leukemia, blood and bone marrow transplantation. The hospital’s comprehensive program provides the full range of care and treatment from diagnosis to long-term follow-up of all adult hematologic malignancies.
A unique collaboration among highly trained and experienced physicians from Ochsner and LSU Health Science Center provide optimal care for oncology patients with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, aplastic anemia and certain immune deficiency diseases.
In addition, the hospital’s comprehensive hematology facility is specifically designed with hepa filtration and positive air pressure to reduce risk of patient infection. The stem cell laboratory, part of the Ochsner Blood Bank, was fully equipped as a free-standing stem cell processing laboratory to facilitate transplants. A dedicated outpatient infusion suite supports the transfusion needs of leukemia and transplant patients, as well.
