The transplant social workers lead several support groups to assist and educate patients and families with various transplant issues. These support groups meet monthly at Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway. Please see below for information on support groups currently being offered. If you don't see a support group that meets your specific needs please call our social workers at (504) 842-3925.

Liver Transplant Support Group

The Liver Transplant Support Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 11 am - noon in the Clinic Board Room at Ochsner Medical Center, except for October which will be scheduled at a later date. Speakers will be announced as the dates of each meeting get closer, but upcoming topics include Herbal Medications; Heart Health; Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency; Longevity in the Transplant Patient; Mental Health; Nutrition and more! These support groups are a great environment to share stories and learn from transplant patients' experiences.

Lung Transplant Support Group

The Lung Transplant Support Group meets monthly from 1 pm - 2 pm in the Caldwell Room of the Brent House Conference Center at Ochsner Medical Center. The group is open to lung transplant recipients, their families and friends.  Join us for education and sharing.

Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Support Group

For patients who have a VAD implanted, there is a special support group focusing on your needs. This group meets monthly in the Lejeune Room of the Brent House Conference Center on the 2nd floor of Ochsner Medical Center. All meetings begin at 11 am and run for about two hours.  Refreshments are served.

Heart Transplant Support Group

The Heart Transplant Support Group meets the last Tuesday of each month in the 3rd Floor Clinic Atrium Classroom.  This support group focuses on the special needs of heart transplant patients.

The Heart Failure Support Group is held the 1st Tuesday of each month from 12 noon to 2 pm. All groups are to be held in the Brent House Conference Center - LeJeune Room.

Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group
