On June 29, 2011, the LA State Senate passed the Louisiana Youth Concussion Act into law.
Louisiana is the 25th state to have a Concussion Law enacted, but the first state in the Deep South.
The Act states:
(1) Any player suspected of a concussion is removed from game or practice
(2) Player required to have written medical clearance from a medical professional, preferably trained in the management of concussion to return to practice and games
(3) Annual education and course completion requirement for public/private schools and recreational sports leagues/clubs
