The Pediatric Nephrology Division provides for the evaluation, management and education of the following disorders:
- Blood in the urine
- Protein in the urine
- Blood electrolyte abnormalities, including acidosis
- Kidney failure
- Dialysis
- Kidney transplant
- Hypertension
- Type II Diabetes Mellitus
- Hypercholesterolemia
History
The Pediatric Nephrology Division was created in January of 2004 and has expanded since that time. Patients are seen on a regular basis in various locations. In addition, with the increasing incidence of hypertension in young children, the section is increasing emphasis on its treatment and other preventive measures to avoid severe atherosclerotic vascular disease in later life.
