Family Medicine : About

Image Caption

Family medicine physicians are trained to care for the individual as well as the entire family. They are also specially trained to solve complex diagnostic problems and manage chronic illnesses. This scope of medicine, however, is not limited by age, sex, and organ system or disease entity. Teaching our patients about wellness and disease prevention are likewise important aspects of our family medicine care. When other medical specialists are needed, the department’s physicians will even coordinate and often serve as consultants in your care. Ochsner currently has more than 45 family medicine physicians serving a network that includes the South Shore, North Shore, West Bank and Baton Rouge.
