Here at Ochsner Medical Center, at the Jefferson Highway Campus, we offer a variety of prenatal classes. In fact, there are a series of prenatal classes that are free to our expectant patients. They cover such topics as the labor and delivery experience; vaginal delivery versus Cesarean Section delivery; Epidurals; postpartum care; car seat safety; newborn care; sibling classes for siblings; and breastfeeding. All classes are taught by our maternity nurses and our breastfeeding class is led by certified lactation consultants. We also have Lamaze classes that do have a fee and are taught by a certified Lamaze instructor. Most recently, we launched a brand new prenatal class called the "Happiest Baby on the Block," which instructs expectant parents on how to calm a new baby. This class, though, has a fee that covers the costs of a special parenting kit.
