Ochsner Medical Center hosted a graduation ceremony for a very special young man. Kaylon Marshall is waiting for a new heart, but that isn't keeping him from reaching his goals, like completing high school. With the pomp and circumstance that every graduate deserves, 17 year old Kaylon Marshall walked amongst his friends and family this afternoon to accept his high school diploma. Kaylon's road to graduation hasn't been easy. He got pneumonia in October 2011. The virus set off a domino effect that caused the left side of his heart not to function. He left his Shreveport high school to come to Ochsner to wait for a new heart. Ochsner is the only hospital in Louisiana with a pediatric heart transplant program. While waiting for a new heart, he continued his studies at Riverdale High School in Jefferson Parish. But because of his condition, he wasn't able to attend the school's graduation ceremony. So the staff at Ochsner decided to throw him a ceremony of his own. Watch this video to see the graduation.
