Ochsner to forbid smoking on property

Beginning Friday April 1, Ochsner Health System's eight hospitals, 38 health centers and four Elmwood Fitness centers will not allow anyone to light up or chew tobacco even outside.
"Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in this country. Four hundred thousand people a year die from smoking related illness, and because of Ochsner's commitment to the health of the people of Louisiana, we've decided that we really need to step out in front and say that we're going to be tobacco free," Dr. Bisordi said.
