Ochsner Pediatric Cardiology Nurse, Shawn Fontenot, was born with a defective heart.  He was treated at Ochsner as baby and now 25 years later is a nurse there and works with patients experiencing a similar situation as him. Technology has advanced since then, including the Medtronic Melody Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve, which is a less invasive procedure than open heart surgery. This procedure is performed at Ochsner Medical Center. Ochsner not only has a team of heart specialists to treat babies and children, but also a team to treat those who were born with heart problems and are now adults.
