Ochsner Medical Center has been designated as the exclusive training center in the Gulf Coast for the da Vinci S Surgical System, an evolutionary medical device that allows physicians to perform intricate operations through tiny incisions, improving patient recovery times with less pain and blood loss. As one of only six training sites in the world, physicians throughout the Gulf South and around the world will be trained at Ochsner, on the S-model, in the techniques of minimally invasive surgery; specifically in urology and gynecology. The da Vinci system offers patients with a minimally invasive treatment option in a broad range of medical conditions such as laparoscopic prostatectomy, hysterectomy and fibroid removal, coronary surgery, and various urological problems such as incontinence. Ochsner has four da Vinci surgical systems; three at its New Orleans Jefferson Highway campus and one at Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge.
