April is National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness month. Currently there are more than 113,000 people on the national transplant waiting list and more than 1,800 of those are in Louisiana. And unfortunately, nearly 20 people die unnecessarily each day because there are too few organ donors. Dr. Ian Carmody, Ochsner Transplant Surgeon joins us to tell who can become an organ donor. He also discussed bone marrow donations and the living liver organ donation program at Ochsner. Finally, he will discuss the steps you can take to become a registered organ donor.
