Dr. Chip Lavie, Ochsner Cardiologist
A recent paper published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology states that substantial evidence now suggests that a large portion of the population does not get enough vitamin D which can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Chip Lavie, Ochsner Cardiologist and lead author of this paper, explains more, including how a lack of vitamin D can lead to cardiovascular problems and who is at risk for vitamin D deficiency and how should people go about finding out if they are deficient. Dr. Lavie also explains what people can do to increase the amount of vitamin D they are getting.
