PGY-2 Health-System Administration Residency

The novel Ochsner PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency combines the pharmacy administrative experience with Ochsner’s Administrative Fellowship to provide the resident with a comprehensive pharmacy administration background, as well general health system leadership.   The mission of the program is to develop and prepare pharmacists to lead, innovate, and execute within a complex health system. 

The Residency:                                                          

  • 2, 4 and 6-week rotations                                                                 
  • Present projects at regional resident’s conference                
  • Attend ASHP Midyear Clinical meeting

Longitudinal Experiences:

  •  Administrative Fellowship          

Core Rotations:

  •        Ambulatory care and clinic management
  •        Clinical pharmacy leadership
  •        Contract management
  •        Finance
  •        Medication safety
  •        Pharmacy operations
  •        System Pharmacy Leadership

Elective rotations:

Pharmacy Based

  •       340B Program Compliance
  •       Community Hospital Leadership
  •       Retail/Specialty Pharmacy management           

Multi-Disciplinary Based

  •       Ancillary service leadership
  •       Insurance, billing, and reimbursement
  •       Operations (non-pharmacy)

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited College/School of Pharmacy
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency
  • Eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana
  • Licensed in the State of Louisiana before the program begins or shortly thereafter

Only those applications files that have been completed will be considered for an on-site interview.  Deadline for application submission to PHORCAS is January 15, 2017.
