Dr. Anthony Mazzulla is an ophthalmologist specializing in retina and vitreous surgery. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois and his interest in eye disease began at an early age. Dr. Mazzulla comes from a family of eye care professionals, and his father and older sister are both optometrists. He obtained his bachelor's degree with honors and his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago as part of the combined medical program, Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions (GPPA). He completed his transitional year internship at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL. He went on to complete a three-year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Mazzulla came to New Orleans to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. He joined the staff at Ochsner in 2008. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and he is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is currently involved in trials for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He has presented several research projects at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Mazzulla is the section head of vitreoretinal surgery. He also the director of the surgical vitreoretinal fellowship program. His interests outside of clinical practice include golfing, fishing, jazz music, and enjoying time with his wife and children.
