Dr. Emily Brumfield attended Tulane University where she earned both her undergraduate degree and medical doctorate degree. She completed her internship and residency with the Harvard-affiliated emergency medicine residency program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Brumfield is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2019. She has practiced medicine since 2012. Dr. Brumfield's expertise is in the management of acutely ill and injured patients, with a special interest in intimate partner violence and women's health.
