_x000D_ _x000D_ I was born in Baton Rouge. I have been fortunate to be able to pursue my education in many of our country's top institutions and even abroad. My wife and I lived for 25 years in Rhode Island. During that time, I practiced orthopedic surgery, taught as a member of the faculty at Brown University, and helped to raise our three children. In recent years, we came to increasingly appreciate New Orleans and decided that we wanted to live here. Ochsner has provided me with an ideal opportunity to continue my practice, focusing on providing joint replacement services to patients with progressive arthritis of the hip and knee. As an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacements, I strive to enable patients to maintain their quality of life. Because joint replacement is almost never mandatory, I endeavor to explain the possibility of both surgical and nonsurgical care to my patients, along with the associated risks and expectations associated with each. I also try to assist in the decision-making process, without ever pushing patients toward surgery, who might reasonably be managed without it. When a patient elects for me to perform a joint replacement, I strive to make the experience as "minimally invasive" as possible. By that I mean that I try to provide ample preoperative education, while eliminating unnecessary testing, performing efficient surgery, and managing postoperative pain effectively. Postoperatively I strive to safely discharge patients directly back to their homes and direct a rehabilitation process that enables them to return to their normal activities as quickly as possible. _x000D_ _x000D_
