Dr. Jake Kleinmahon joined the faculty at Ochsner Hospital for Children in 2018. He serves as the medical director of Ochsners pediatric heart transplant, heart failure and ventricular assist device programs. He also has advanced training in taking care of infants and children with pulmonary hypertension and runs a clinic dedicated to taking care of patients with pulmonary hypertension. Dr. Kleinmahon trained in pediatrics at Tulane University Hospital and Ochsner Hospital for Children before completing fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric heart transplant and heart failure at Childrens Hospital Colorado. While in Colorado, he was awarded the Colorado Chapter of the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association's Doctor of the Year award in 2017. He was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society as a resident.
Dr. Kleinmahon is active in the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and has been asked to present multiple times at international conferences. He is also active within the Pediatric Heart Transplant Society and works to improve healthcare disparities among different racial groups in pediatric heart transplant recipients. He is the principal investigator of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study and Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) at Ochsner. His interests include taking care of children with cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, connective tissue disorders, heart transplant, pulmonary hypertension, and congenital heart disease.

Dr. Kleinmahon is great. He was so engaging with my 3 year old son, and friendly. I attended the appointment virtually, but I enjoyed hearing my son so engaged and excited to answer all of Dr. Kleinmahon's questions, and even get to listen to his own heartbeat. He was also very detailed. We had a very pleasant experience.

5 stars is not adequate enough to rate Dr. Kleinmahon. He does not treat pediatric heart disease—he treats your child. Not only is he a wonderful clinician, he also has the most caring and genuine demeanor. He will treat your child as if they were his own. I could go on and on. Cannot express my gratitude and admiration for Dr. Jake enough!

Dr Kleinmahon is simply the best! Our son has a very rare condition and we trust his care completely! He takes the time to listen and we know he truly cares! His support team is top notch also. Professional and efficient. They always make you feel like you are their only patient. I thank God for bringing this medical team to us to care for our son!

Coming from a mother of 3 and Hearing that my last child/ my 1st babygirl had a heart condition was so scary for me ,Dr. Jake made me feel so comfortable and at ease about the situation I loved the way he understood me as a mother and how he cared for my precious daughter I will always look at Jake with such a warming grace because he not only told me he cared but showed me he cared . As I’m excited about the Lord healing my babygirl… we won’t be seeing Dr. Jake anymore I will miss his stories about his active precious babyboy and his beautiful daughter but even more I will miss being under his care with my babygirl 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘 thank you Dr. Jake Eriyen’s mom
