Juan B. Ochoa Gautier, MD, FACS, FCCM received his medical degree from University Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia in 1982. He went on to complete his internship and two residencies in general surgery at the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia, and at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his fellowship in multi-disciplinary critical care at the University of Pittsburgh. Additional training included training in surgical research and the completion of courses in physician leadership at the Joseph Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Ochoa is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and has been on staff at Ochsner since January 2019 and practicing medicine since 1982. He dedicates his practice exclusively to the management of critically ill patients and currently directs the surgical intensive care unit at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans campus. He has a special clinical interest in surgical and critical care nutrition. Dr. Ochoa enjoys his vineyard in his free time.
