After ten years of varied nursing experience, including long term care and cardiac-medical ICU, Kari Rodas decided to use her passion for education and advocacy to help empower people living with diabetes/chronic disease and to be a part of helping the community become healthier.
Complex chronic illnesses often benefit from a more holistic approach to management. Through Ochsner’s ADA-certified diabetes management program, Kari has the opportunity to teach patients about current medication therapies, nutritional therapy and behavior modification. Chronic disease management can be frustrating and exhausting. Kari loves being able to partner with participants and help empower them to take back control of their health and improve their quality of life, which often means less complications, less hospital time and more time spent enjoying life.
