Dr. McCarthy is a native New Orleanian. She is a board certified psychiatrist in both General Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She did her pre-medical studies at Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia and went on to graduate from the combined M.D./Ph.D program at New York University Medical School where she wrote her doctoral thesis on “A Lineage Analysis of the Mammalian Neocortex using retroviral vectors.” She completed a combined residency and fellowship in General Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh and a research and clinical fellowship in Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the Seaver Autism Center, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine and YAI/Premiere HealthCare. Dr. McCarthy is a lifelong student of human empathy, adaptability and capacity for change. She looks forward to serving the needs of individuals with Autism and Developmental Disorders and their families in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
