Marie deMahy Rathe is a native of Louisiana who earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the Loyola University in New Orleans in 2002 and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Previous experiences include 14 years as a patient care coordinator working in an orthopedic clinic coordinating patient care and assisting in surgery followed by 2 years as a nurse practitioner in family practice while working prn as a CRNFA in a multispecialty surgical capacity. She also has previous experience working as a circulating and scrub RN in surgery and as a recovery room nurse caring for critically ill patients.
