Dr. Matthew Nielsen was raised in Nacogdoches, Texas. He obtained an undergraduate degree in business and chemistry at Baylor University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was elected to the distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as a junior medical student. Dr. Nielsen then graduated Summa Cum Laude at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was Intern of the Year in General Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He then completed his urologic residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he received the Eunice Baxter Award for most outstanding resident in all specialties. After residency, Dr. Nielsen worked in a Florida private practice for over three years.

He and his wife (a Baton Rouge native) were married in New Orleans and are excited to finally call Louisiana home. Dr. Nielsen has special interests in robotic and minimally invasive surgery as well as urologic reconstruction. When not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. Dr. Nielsen is certified by the American Board of Urology and sees patients at Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner.
