Sports Medicine care on the North Shore for both pediatric and adult patients

Dr. Michael Feldman currently holds the position as the Ochsner North Shore Orthopedic Surgery Lead Physician. He is a Board Certified, Fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine. He has a special interest in arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the hip, knee, shoulder and ankle. Prior to his current employment with Ochsner Orthopedics, Dr. Feldman practiced for 21 years with a large academically affiliated single specialty orthopedic group in Rhode Island serving as Orthopedic Team Physician for Division 1-AA Bryant University, Division 2 Stonehill College, and Division 3 Wheaton and Rhode Island Colleges. He also covered numerous high school teams throughout the Rhode Island area.

In April of 2015, Dr. Feldman was the recipient of the prestigious Stephen J. Snyder Excellence in Teaching Award from the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) which annually recognizes an outstanding teaching physician that values AANA’s mission to promote and foster the professional development and knowledge of arthroscopic surgery. Additionally, while in Rhode Island, Dr. Feldman was appointed to the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University, where he served as Course Director of the Outpatient Musculoskeletal Course for medical students, teaching the fundamentals of orthopedic diagnosis and treatment. Due to his dedication to teaching, Dr. Feldman was awarded the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award twice, first in 2011 and again in 2014.

Dr. Feldman continues to remain active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America serving as the Compliance Committee Chair as well as a Master Instructor at the Orthopedic Learning Center (OLC) in Chicago. Additionally, he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Arthroscopy and is published in many prestigious orthopedic journals and books.

Lastly, Dr. Feldman is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of United States Army Reserve and received an honorable discharge as a combat veteran who performed active duty service in Iraq, Kosovo and Germany. While serving his country, he received numerous medals and citations for his dedication. Additionally his unit, the 912th Forward Surgical Team, was honored with the Presidential Unit Citation for displaying such gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions so as to set it apart from and above other units participating in the same campaign. He currently resides with his family in Mandeville, LA.
