Originally from Western Canada, Dr. Nicholas Tworek earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He continued his education in South Florida earning his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University, where he specialized in clinical health psychology. With an initial focus on sport psychology, his interests during training grew to general medical consultation, pre-surgical evaluations, and behavioral medicine. He completed internship and fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine with an emphasis on cancer care.
Dr. Tworek specializes in the psychological aspects of cancer care. His clinical interests center on adaptation to illness, wellbeing, and distress management throughout cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Dr. Tworek has been on staff at Ochsner since January 2021. He is licensed to work with patients and their caregivers in Louisiana and Mississippi. In his free time, Dr. Tworek enjoys running, watching hockey, and spending time with family and friends.
