Ryan Himes, MD

Ryan Himes, MD, specializes in pediatric hepatology and liver transplant medicine at Ochsner Health. Dr. Himes joined Ochsner in 2019, after more than a decade at one of the nation's largest pediatric liver transplant programs. Dr. Himes was drawn to Ochsner by the opportunity to develop a comprehensive regional program to care for children with liver disease. His clinical interests include biliary atresia, Alagille syndrome, progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis (PFIC) and other rare causes of liver disease. His division participates in a number of clinical trials which allow children across the Gulf South the ability to access cutting-edge therapies and state-of-the-art treatment protocols. Dr. Himes serves as Section Head, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition; Medical Director, Pediatric Liver Transplantation; and Associate System Chair, Pediatric Subspecialties.

My son Liam has been seeing Dr. Himes since June of 2019 & we have received excellent service. The staff has been more than friendly & helpful when it comes to answering all our questions & concerns. Since his first visit Dr. Himes was able to help us in informing us about his medical condition. He is very thorough in his exams and is very attentive to his condition. Ms Yolanda has been a nurse for my other children for years and knowing that she is in this office I know she has my son's health at the top of her list when we come in. Dr Himes seems to be a very knowledgeable doctor in his field. I love the fact that he called me with the results of his x-ray and ultrasound within hours of having them done to give us a peace of mind with what was going on. We will continue to have Dr Himes as out pediatric GI for as long as possible!!!!
