Samantha provides nutrition therapy for patients before, during, and after any type of cancer treatment. Samantha’s role in cancer treatment is to provide a one on one nutrition assessment based on a specific cancer diagnosis, diet and medical history and lab results. Samantha earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She completed a dietetic internship and earned a Master of Science in Health and Human Performance from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She works as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop an appropriate plan to accomplish personalized nutrition goals and to monitor and evaluate ongoing progress. Additionally, Samantha hosts quarterly cooking demonstrations with Ochsner’s executive chef to promote healthy eating by preparing quick and easy recipes highlighting in-season fruits and vegetables. She also serves as dietitian for the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Program (AYA) and serves as a guest speaker at various cancer support groups at Ochsner.
