It is an exciting time for cancer services at Ochsner. The availability
of an ever-growing array of new cancer treatments and technologies aids
the implementation of cancer care by nationally and internationally respected cancer specialists at the Ochsner Cancer Institute. Indeed, the people of our Gulf South region and our international neighbors of the Americas and further abroad can expect compassionate, expert care provided by our physicians, nurses and support services at Ochsner.
At Ochsner, our focus is the treatment of the “whole patient,” not just
a “disease.” Attention to the psychological, nutritional, family and spiritual needs of our patients is a priority, as is our focus on “survivorship” through the anxious times of cancer treatment and beyond.
As the leading center in our Gulf South region, the Ochsner Cancer Institute is involved in cancer treatment and clinical trials and is also home to the Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center, the first facility in the Gulf South to be fully accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Our cancer surgeons lead the region in innovative, minimally invasive surgical approaches for a wide variety of malignancies previously requiring more traumatic “open” surgery. Ochsner’s Bone Marrow Transplantation program is the only Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) accredited site for adults in Louisiana.
The purpose of Ochsner Outcomes is to provide you with objective information about the clinical outcomes of care and cancer research activities at the Ochsner Cancer Institute. We realize that informed patients who are confident in the care provided them throughout their fight with cancer is of paramount importance.
Sincerely,
Dr. John Cole
Acting Chair, Hematology/Oncology and BMT
