At Ochsner, we strive to continuously improve our quality of care.
The outcomes in this book serve as a measure of our present accomplishments but also the bar by which we will measure our future progress.
As we continue to determine and meet the needs of our patients, we have begun to focus our attention on centers of excellence in specific areas, including: the management of fibroids, vulva disorders and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Our gynecologic oncologists have also become more comprehensive in
their care through the development of the multidisciplinary Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center. Our minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons continue to be innovative in their approach to complex gynecologic conditions that previously required large abdominal incisions and prolonged hospital stays.
Our Maternal Fetal Medicine team has dedicated itself to the management of all areas of pregnancy and remains a referral center for the Gulf South region. In combination with our Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we are able to take care of very complicated antenatal issues to ensure a healthy baby and a healthy mom. In 2011, we were the first hospital in the Gulf South region to perform in-utero fetal surgery. We have also developed a multidisciplinary team to care for critically ill obstetric patients in our Baptist Intensive Care Unit, and we are expanding our area of service to the Gulf Coast by providing care through telemedicine.
In addition to improving quality, we work to improve access for our patients. We have recently moved to a newly renovated space at Ochsner Baptist
in Uptown New Orleans. Our $40 million renovation includes eleven delivery rooms, four operating rooms and an alternative birthing center. We have expanded to meet the needs of our community.
We are proud to be ranked Among the Top 5% in the nation for women’s health three years in a row by Healthgrades® and recognized by U.S. News & World Report as “High Performing” in Gynecology but will continuously work to improve our outcomes, our patient satisfaction and our service to those with whom we collaborate.
