Our Mission
The Ochsner STAR program provides qualified high school students, particularly those with limited means and access, a cost-free opportunity to explore the world of healthcare. Through a rigorous, hands-on summer course focusing on science, technology, academics, and research, STAR aims to engage and inspire students to pursue further education and careers in science and medicine.

Weekly Newsletter - The Rising Star Gazette
Each student project group compiled a newsletter for one week of the STAR Program, with the goal of recapping their experience during the previous week, offering medical terminology activities, and previewing the activities scheduled for the week ahead. These newsletters were entirely student-produced, with minor review from STAR administration prior to publishing.
Student Music Video Project
Students were tasked with writing, producing, filming, and editing a music video relating to their experiences at Ochsner and in the STAR Program. The final product was presented to family, friends, and mentors at the students' Culmination Ceremony.
