Diet and Heart Failure
Too much salt in your diet can cause your body to retain fluid and raise your blood pressure and impact your heart health.

Eating Healthy
Limit your total salt intake in your food to no more than 1500 mg per day. Your health care provider may recommend the D.A.S.H. (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) eating plan to help monitor your diet. The DASH eating plan includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other foods that are heart healthy and low in fat, cholesterol, and salt (sodium).
