Rev. Anthony J. De Conciliis, C.S.C., D. Min., Ph.D.
In October 2011, Rev. Anthony J. De Conciliis joined the staff of Ochsner as the Vice President and Director of IMESO. He is a Catholic priest and member of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Most of his professional career experience has been in educational institutions serving in many areas: administration, teaching, research, and pastoral care. He has held the titles of CEO/President, Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs, Vice President and Dean for Student Affairs, Associate Professor of Psychology, Director of University Counseling, and Director of Campus Ministry and Director of Project NUVA, a drug treatment center.
He has taught in secondary, college and university settings, teaching psychology on the undergraduate and graduate levels with special emphasis in areas of abnormal psychology, interviewing and counseling, gerontology, religion and psychology, and pastoral counseling. His research interests are in the areas of spirituality and prosocial behavior, a form of altruism. He authored a book on spirituality which examines five spiritual decisions made in a lifetime.
Fr. De Conciliis holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy and graduate degrees in theology (MA) and education (M.Ed), and doctoral degrees in pastoral care and counseling (D.Min.) and pastoral counseling (Ph.D.).
