Resourceful Experienced Team Rises at Ochsner (RETRO) represents a diverse and dynamic population of Ochsner employees that advocates for, and empowers, Generation X and above individuals not only within Ochsner but throughout the community. Through meaningful partnerships and collaborations, RETRO leverages the unique strengths of older individuals to strengthen Ochsner internally and in terms of outreach.

Through meaningful partnerships and collaborations, RETRO leverages the unique strengths of older individuals to bolster Ochsner’s internal make-up and outreach efforts.

To support Ochsner Health in promoting affiliated councils to advance diversity and inclusion by transforming our workplaces and communities into inclusive environments; where individuals are valued for their talents and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

Mission & Vision

Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire, collaborate and partner with our Ochsner executive and HR teams; Ochsner employees and various internal departments; and external community, healthcare and business leaders to:

  • Promote the value of a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Connect Ochsner employees who are Gen X and above to resources and opportunities for career advancement
  • To initiate and realize bidirectional mentorship opportunities, in collaboration with groups targeted toward young professionals
  • To create and support a “return”-ship program to fill open positions with retired workers
  • To identify and participate in volunteerism opportunities targeted toward the aging population in the community, such as Meals on Wheels
  • To collaborate with other non-profit organizations whose mission involved empowering older Americans, such as AARP
  • To offer meaningful networking and educational opportunities, including workshops and events

Our Vision

  • The employer of choice for mature employees to work, continuously develop, and advance; and
  • The health care advisor and provider of choice for all senior patients who live and work in and around the communities in which we serve; and
  • The pathway to improving and maintaining the well being and general health of the aging population in the areas we serve.

Goals and Objectives

  • Engage in one volunteerism opportunity targeted toward aging individuals
