Dr. Victoria Smith, Associate Medical Director for St. Charles Parish Hospital and Primary Care for the River Region was one of the first Presidents of ABLE, and she currently serves as an Ochsner Board Member with a strong commitment to this work. Dr. Smith is a veteran educator and served in this capacity with Teach for America after her undergraduate graduation from Yale University, before earning her medical degree from Harvard University. Dr. Smith is a mentor and an active leader in several community organizations, including SGI-USA. Fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, Dr. Smith has a large bilingual patient population and often speaks on health promotion and disease prevention for lay audiences.
Missy Sparks, Vice President of Talent Management created the vision and structure for all our Employee Resource Groups and started the Diversity and Inclusion conversation at Ochsner. Through her role, she oversees Performance Management and Engagement, New Employee and New Leader Orientation programming and Workforce Development where she leads her team in developing a diverse talent pipeline that opens career pathways into healthcare for the unemployed and underemployed. She is a current board member for the Workforce Development Board for New Orleans, YouthForce NOLA and for Communities in Schools. Additionally, she volunteers weekly to help feed the hungry and homeless through St. Mark’s United Methodist in the French Quarter.
