Ochsner Medical Nutrition Therapy is performed by Registered Dietitians (RDs) to improve your health and quality of life.
What is Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT)?
MNT includes a nutritional assessment followed by a customized meal plan unique to your medical condition and nutritional needs. Ongoing behavioral coaching is available to support long-term changes and health lifestyle improvements.
What Do MNT Appointments Include?
At your initial visit, your dietitian will review your medical and diet history, lab values, medications and measurements such as weight. Together you will develop a lifestyle and meal plan. Follow-up visits will include monitoring food diaries, measurement and overall progress.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
BMI is a relationship between height and weight. A higher BMI may contribute to health problems such as diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.
What is Your BMI?
Click here to download the body mass index table and locate your height from the left column and weight across the row. Where the two numbers meet is your BMI.
