Our close teamwork provides you with comprehensive patient evaluation and treatment recommendations, as well as high quality patient care. Patients entering the Ochsner Recovery Program receive an extensive medical, psychological, and psychosocial assessment. Medically supervised ambulatory detoxification is provided whenever necessary. The program is currently operating online via telemedicine platforms to ensure the physical safety of our patients and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Patients attend physician meetings, group therapy sessions, and any other treatments from the comfort and safety of their home.

Our unique and holistic program combines intensive cognitive behavioral group therapy with a high level of PhD and MD involvement and an emphasis on patient education and process. Patients attend educational sessions to learn new ways to understand and cope with the disease of addiction. During group therapy sessions, patients are able to practice new skills in a protected therapeutic and non-judgmental setting. The Ochsner Recovery Program delivers the most recent evidenced-based therapies, such as yoga, mindfulness, and life skill building to support patients in creating the recovery journey that works for them. Patients’ treatment is supported by attendance in peer support meetings outside of program hours as well as frequent urine drug screens.

Family members are as affected by the disease of addiction as the patient and need treatment in a parallel fashion. Family members of patients in the Ochsner Recovery Program are encouraged to attend educational lecture sessions, where they learn to recognize ways they may have played a part in behaviors that perpetuate the disease and are encouraged to identify and begin meeting their own needs. Family members attend educational sessions with the patient where they work on developing a healthier family system. They are introduced to their own 12 Step support groups and encouraged to pursue their individual recovery programs.

Ochsner offers individual therapy for family members who wish to address the issues of co-dependency of adult children of dysfunctional families.

Ochsner also offers family therapy to address dysfunctional family patterns related to addiction.

After completing the initial intensive phase of the program, patients are encouraged to attend a minimum of one year of aftercare activities consisting of weekly aftercare group, individual therapy as needed, psychiatric care as needed, random urine screens and attendance at 12 step meetings in their community.

Our staff member will quickly assess the nature of your situation. If you need hospitalization, round-the-clock admission to Ochsner hospital is available through the Emergency Department where a physician is on call 24 hours a day. Non-emergency patients will receive a comprehensive evaluation as soon as possible by a member of our Recovery Program.
