Understanding Network Opportunities

We offer membership opportunities within two types of physician-led organizations, both aimed at meeting the clinical and business demands of the industry’s value-driven environment. Ochsner Health Network, a clinically integrated network, and Ochsner Accountable Care Network, an accountable care organization, equip doctors and advanced practice providers with the support, tools and contracts critical to success.

What is an accountable care organization?

As defined by the Centers For Medicare and Medicaid services, accountable care organizations are “groups of doctors, hospitals, and other health care professionals that work together to give patients high-quality, coordinated service and healthcare, improve health outcomes, and manage costs. ACOs agree to be held accountable for the quality, cost, and experience of care of an assigned Medicare beneficiary population. When an ACO succeeds in delivering high-quality care, while reducing total cost of care, the ACO and its participating providers have the ability to share in those savings with CMS.”

What is a clinically integrated network?

A clinically integrated network (CIN) is a contracting entity for value-based agreements. Doctors, hospitals and other healthcare providers can voluntarily engage in clinical and/or financial integration within a CIN to improve healthcare quality, enhance the patient experience, and reduce total cost of care. By sharing healthcare data, tools and clinical goals, clinically integrated network members have the opportunity to reduce total cost of care for patient populations, then share in those savings when successful.
