- Breast biopsy procedures: Approximately 8,000 biopsies are performed each year, many on an outpatient basis.
- Cancer risk assessment: Genetic counselors offer personalized evaluation of breast cancer risk factors to guide prevention and early detection.
- Breast cancer treatment: Coordinated care plans are developed by a multidisciplinary team that includes a surgeon, medical oncologist and radiation oncologist.
- Breast reconstruction surgery: Reconstructive options are available as part of the Tansey Breast Center’s comprehensive surgical offering.
- Breast cancer research and clinical trials: Tansey Breast Center’s team actively participates in prevention and treatment studies, and patients have access to Ochsner MD Anderson's portfolio of over 700 active clinical trials.
- Lymphedema prevention: Breast cancer-related lymphedema is a condition that can result from surgical, radiation or certain chemotherapy treatments. It can lead to abnormal swelling and discomfort in one or both arms. The Tansey Breast Center team uses the SOZO Digital Health Platform to help detect lymphedema before a patient feels noticeable swelling.
