Ochsner Health has been providing high-quality clinical and hospital patient care to the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and the Gulf South since 1942. Our healthcare family—today, comprising more than 32,000 employees and over 4,500 providers in over 90 medical specialties and subspecialties—is driven by our commitment to our mission to Serve, Heal, Lead, Educate and Innovate, and that passion is shared with every person who passes through our doors.
Ochsner Health is a not-for-profit committed to giving back to the communities it serves through preventative screenings, health and wellness resources and partnerships with innovative organizations that share our vision.
A Strong Foundation
As Louisiana’s largest non-profit, academic, healthcare system, Ochsner provides coordinated clinical and hospital patient care, all connected electronically to provide convenience for our patients, across the region by Ochsner’s 40 owned, managed and affiliated hospitals and specialty hospitals and more than 100 health centers and urgent care centers.
Close collaboration between our clinicians and scientists helps to bring innovative medical discoveries from the laboratory to our patients’ bedsides. We’re deeply dedicated to our patients and are honored to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the only nationally ranked hospital in Louisiana and Mississippi and the only ranked children's hospital in Louisiana. Ochsner is also a national leader in medical research, and conducts more than 700 clinical research studies. We’re one of the largest non-university-based physician training centers in the U.S.
The Gold Standard of Nursing Excellence
Ochsner Medical Center, located at 1514 Jefferson Highway, achieved the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition® for Excellence in Nursing Services in 2003 and was re-designated in 2008 and 2019. We are among less than 1 percent of hospitals in the nation to have achieved Magnet® designation four times.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program® distinguishes health care organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice. Earning Magnet recognition is a great accomplishment and an incredible source of pride for our nurses. We are proud of our continued honor in the Magnet Recognition Program®, which is proof of our dedication to quality healthcare and our commitment to providing a work environment where nurses are empowered and equipped to provide expert care to every patient in our communities.
